Orlando is ringing in the holiday season with the official lighting of the Christmas tree at Lake Eola Park's Washington Plaza.
The 64-foot tree is adorned with 2,000 ornaments and more than 88,000 animated lights. Festivities will kick off at 5:30 this afternoon, with the official tree lighting at 8 p.m.
Another night of festive fun and holiday cheer is being held at Orlando's Northwest Community Center.
The Light the City: Tree Lighting Celebration & Holiday Giveaway will run from 5:30 to 9 this evening.
There are a plethora of other holiday events also starting today in downtown Orlando.
They are part of Downtown for the Holidays presented by AdventHealth.
