Morrisons is making a huge change to its tills which began on Thursday and will continue until this Sunday, December 7.
The supermarket giant has decided to move in the opposite direction to the likes of Aldi , known for its lightning fast checkouts, and is opening ‘talking tills’ where shoppers can slow down and enjoy a chat at the checkout instead.
Morrisons says the change is a bid to tackle loneliness this Christmas, with a trip to the supermarket seen as the only opportunity many people have to speak to someone in person.
The change has been launched in partnership with ITV’s Good Morning Britain and charity Age UK.
The supermarket says: “Talking Tills will be available from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th December with colleagues on hand to offer customers a slower-paced checkout
