Motorists face £1,000 penalties as the DVLA announces a ban on certain number plates. The agency has disclosed which registration combinations will be unavailable from 2026 onwards, deeming them offensive or unsuitable.
The DVLA, responsible for maintaining approximately 53 million driver records alongside more than 47 million vehicle records , offers personalised registration plates through its online platform.
