An 18-year-old man was tasered by police on a motorway before being hit by a car and killed, the police watchdog has said.

The incident unfolded on Sunday night when Logan Smith exited an ambulance on the M5 near the junction for Weston-super-Mare. The young man was being taken to hospital when ambulance staff stopped the vehicle on the hard shoulder of the northbound M5 just after 11pm due to "concerns", the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said. Logan got out of stationary vehicle and entered the live lanes of the motorway, the watchdog added.
