The owners of a shuttered Lancaster city spa and salon knew they were going to close permanently when they sold gift cards to consumers, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

Six months after Visage á Visage abruptly closed at a historic mansion on North Duke Street, its owners must reimburse those consumers and pay $20,015 under a settlement with the state agency .

Visage closed on June 7, citing a family medical emergency.

“After almost 22 fulfilling years of serving this amazing community, we have made the difficult, heart wrenching decision to close our doors at Visage á Visage,” read a note from owners Ray and Darla Broderick posted on the door of the salon when it closed. “This decision was not an easy one to
