Perth and Kinross Council (PKC) has made a £110,000 commitment to tackle weeds over the next two years and appoint a new contractor. ‌

After PKC's contractor failed to control weeds to the standard expected and numerous complaints, the contractor has agreed to withdraw from the contract. ‌

PKC is now seeking a new contractor to reduce weed growth "to a much better standard"; SNP council leader Eric Drysdale said it is an "absolute priority" to restore and maximise pride in Perth and Kinross communities. ‌

At the November 26 meeting of the Finance and Resources Committee, councillors approved the transfer of £110,000 from the Communities earmarked Reserve to Housing and Communities for annual weed control for two years.
