In one of the most significant days in the 69-year history of the Eurovision Song Contest , several European countries' broadcasters have withdrawn from the competition . The catalyst was a vote due to be held to determine Israel's participation in the contest amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Several countries vowed to bow out of the competition if Israel were allowed to compete, with many going through on their word after a vote took place yesterday . The countries officially confirmed to be boycotting are Ireland (tied with Sweden with the most Eurovision wins), Slovenia, the Netherlands and Spain (one of the Big 5 financial contributors).
