SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — One person has been injured and another is in custody after a Friday morning shooting in Sumter County.
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a home on Childrens Lane, off N St. Paul's Church Road/SC-40, around 9 a.m. December 5. Arriving at the scene, deputies found a gunshot victim and were able to provide emergency first aid until EMS arrived to transport the victim to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital for treatment.
The suspect in the case, Staton Cole Montgomery, 21, was identified as the brother of the victim and was taken into custody and transported to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center. Montgomery is being held pending a bond hearing on a charge of attempted murder.
