MASSILLON ‒ The names of the 12 senior girls and 12 senior boys vying for the title of Miss Massillonian and Outstanding Senior Boy were announced Dec. 5 during the 87th annual Rose Ceremony at Washington High School.

Sixty-seven seniors qualified for the chance to receive the prestigious titles.

Chuck Richards, master of ceremonies and a member of the Miss Massillonian and Outstanding Senior Boy selection committee, said selection for the honor is a not an easy path. To be considered, students must maintain at least a 3.3 grade point average.

Those chosen are selected based on involvement in extracurricular activities throughout their high school career, a vote by fellow seniors and an impromptu essay. Students must also get the recommendation of teachers who consider the student's eth
