STOCKBRIDGE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- The Red Lion Inn has been situated in Stockbridge, in one form or another, for more than 250 years, serving as a living piece of New England history on Main Street.
Long before Norman Rockwell put this Berkshire County town on the map, the Red Lion Inn provided food and lodging to travelers. Built in the 18th century, it stands as one of the oldest inns in America, helping to establish the country before it was a country. “The history of the Red Lion Inn begins in 1773 with a gentleman named Silas Pepoon,” said Timothy Eustis, who runs the inn with his family, who has owned the property since 1968.
