Micheal Martin has backed national broadcaster RTE's decision to pull out of Eurovision after the European Broadcasting Union allowed Israel to participate amid the Gaza conflict

Ireland's Taoiseach has labelled his nation's withdrawal from the Eurovision Song Contest as an "act of solidarity". Ireland, along with several other countries, decided to pull out of the contest following the European Broadcasting Union (EBU)'s decision to allow Israel to participate amidst the Gaza conflict.

Micheal Martin, the Taoiseach, expressed that he "fully understands" the choice made by national broadcaster RTE to withdraw. However, during a joint press conference at the British-Irish Council, Northern Ireland's leaders offered differing perspectives on the move.
