LONG BEACH, Calif. (Gray News) - A California man and his wife have been charged with torturing and killing a young girl.

Alfredo Munoz, Jr. and Kelly Anelalani Munoz both face one count each of murder, torture and assault on a child causing death.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office , Alfredo Munoz’s daughter, a 14-month-old, was admitted to the Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach on Nov. 7 and placed on life support.

Doctors said she received medical treatment, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries on Nov. 10.

After a police investigation, the husband and wife were arrested on Nov. 24.

Homicide and child abuse detectives determined there had been ongoing abuse of the child, and her death was a result of abuse from her father and stepmother.
