MACON, Ga. — A Macon man was sentenced to two decades in prison after admitting to killing his girlfriend after getting in an argument during a night out, according to a press release from the Macon District Attorney's Office.
They say that 34-year-old Leonard Holmes was charged with murder in the death of 38-year-old Tanesha Thomas back on July 7, 2021. It happened at their home on Karen Drive in east Macon.
But on Monday, Holmes pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter — a lesser charge of murder — and was sentenced to 45 years with the first 20 to be in prison. Holmes can spend the other 25 years on probation.
The release said that Holmes and his girlfriend, 38-year-old Tanesha Thomas, had gotten home from a club and began arguing.
