Next up to scoop an award was Sacriston Youth Project for their allotment club, where they have been encouraging youngsters to become green thumbs by transforming a blank canvas into a beautiful legacy.

A wildlife pond, bird-spotting areas and handcrafted wooden benches now populate the land and kids even grow and harvest their own vegetables, which they share with friends and family.

But this is just one side of the work the Sacriston Youth Project do. Kids up to 19 are pushed to get involved with activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award and get the opportunity to head out on bowling trips and more.
