Walking the red carpet at the Kennedy Center before the World Cup Draw Friday, President Donald Trump brushed off questions about whether his FIFA peace prize conflicts with planned Venezuela strikes.

"I don't need prizes. I need to save lives. And we're saving a lot of lives," Trump told reporters.

FIFA awarded its first-ever peace prize to Trump during the ceremony, who has unsuccessfully campaigned to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino gave Trump a large gold-colored trophy and a gold-colored medal hanging from a blue ribbon, which Trump hung around his neck. Standing next to Trump, Infantino lavished praise.

Trump was also asked on the red carpet about concerns of crime in U.S. host cities and whether he was considering moving some the matches away from certain cities.

Trump dismissed the concerns, insisting the government "will take care of that."

"No, I don’t want to do that, but I will tell you if they do have a problem by the time we get there, we will take care of that problem," Trump said.
