A teenage girl was hit by a car and seriously injured Thursday in Salisbury as the town celebrated its annual Christmas tree lighting.
Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian just before 5:30 p.m., according to a release from the Salisbury Police Department. The crash occurred on Route 1, also known as Bridge Road, in Salisbury Square.
The victim was identified as a 14-year-old girl. She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. They are not considered life-threatening, police said. No other information about the girl was released.
The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene. They are cooperating with an ongoing investigation, police said.
