INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man was sentenced Friday to serve the next eight-and-a-half decades in prison following his conviction for a 2024 murder on the city's northeast side.
Reggie Horton was sentenced Dec. 5 to serve 85 years in prison for the shooting death of 38-year-old Dartanian Cole following his November conviction for murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
"It took the jury just 45 minutes to convict the defendant of this senseless murder," said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said. "This speaks to the community members who came forward and helped secure justice for the victim."
The shooting happened July 8, 2024, at an apartment complex in the 6800 block of Faris Avenue , near 42nd Street and Shadeland Avenue.
