A “strong” atmospheric river is forecast to hit Oregon and the Pacific Northwest early next week and could bring minor flooding in the process.
Multiple systems of heavy rain are forecast to arrive Dec. 8-10 and are expected to drop between 5-10 inches of rain at the Oregon Coast and Coast Range, 4-5 inches in the Willamette Valley and 4-8 inches in the Cascade Range.
That’ll most likely make it the heaviest rainfall event of the season so far.
“The bottom line is that it’s going to be very wet,” National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Schuldt. “This should be the wettest three day period we’ve had this season so far.”
