East Lansing — Spartan Stadium is due for some upgrades as part of Michigan State’s recently launched $1 billion fundraising initiative.
It might also get a name change – some day.
Athletic director J Batt told The Detroit News that Michigan State is “certainly in business” for naming rights with its athletics properties, including 102-year-old Spartan Stadium.
This statement comes just days after Michigan State athletics announced a $1 billion fundraising effort, named FOR SPARTA, that seeks improvements to a number of Michigan State venues, including Spartan Stadium, Breslin Center and Jenison Fieldhouse. Greg and Dawn Williams donated $290 million toward the FOR SPARTA fund – part of their $401 million total commitment – MSU announced Friday.
