A 21-year-old infantry Marine from the Northern California city of Dixon has been identified as the servicemember who died during training at Camp Pendleton this week, Marine officials said Friday, Dec. 5.
PFC. Tanner F. Rubio “died in a tactical vehicle mishap” on Wednesday, officials said, but no more details on what type of vehicle he was in or near have been released, including where on the base the training was happening.
Rubio, from the small town near Sacramento, was an infantryman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division and had just joined the service in January.
