The competition to be the Democratic challenger for the 8th Congressional District seat occupied by U.S. Rep. Tony Wied, R-De Pere, has grown to the most crowded it’s been in two decades.

Katrina Violetta deVille, musician and transgender activist from the Town of Neenah, filed her candidacy papers on Dec. 4, joining businessman Mark Scheffler of Appleton, former Green Bay School Board member Rick Crosson , and former electrical engineer Benjamin Hable . If two or more file nomination papers, there would be a Democratic primary on Aug. 11 .
