A Gresham man convicted of fatally shooting a 15-year-old boy during a drugs-and-gun deal was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday.
Kevin Rivas-Ramirez, 27, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and robbery for the Dec. 4, 2021, killing of Lowgunn Ivey inside an apartment building in Gresham.
Rivas-Ramirez, known by his middle name, Gustavo, was previously charged with murder, but prosecutors lessened the charges under the terms of a plea deal.
The killing drew headlines in September when Multnomah County jailers mistakenly released an alleged accomplice, Ty Sage, after a court clerk improperly filled out a bail form.
Sage, 26, was recaptured two days later and remains in custody, pending trial on a murder charge.
