One of Stratford’s biggest manufacturers is getting a significant funding boost through one of the province’s new tariff-countering investment funds.
Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae announced Friday morning that Aisin Canada, an auto parts manufacturer that, among other customers, supplies the Toyota plants in Woodstock and Cambridge, will be receiving $2.2 million in funding from the new $120-million Ontario Together Trade Fund.
This investment, Rae said, will help create 30 more jobs at the Wright Boulevard factory and help protect 530 jobs. This funding is intended to support Aisin’s roughly $11-million purchase of equipment needed for Aisin’s production of panoramic sunroofs for Toyota’s Lexus NX. This production is slated to start next December.
