Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand fronted the 2026 World Cup draw on Friday evening and sent a subtle message to US President Donald Trump
Rio Ferdinand urged United States President Donald Trump to stop calling football "soccer" in a light-hearted moment during Friday's 2026 World Cup draw.
Trump was in attendance for the big draw in Washington DC, where he was awarded the inaugural FIFA peace prize. The 65th and 67th President of the United States was also given the chance to address the audience, to whom he expressed 'what an honour' it was to be handed the award.
It was Ferdinand's introduction which implied that things were finally about to happen in terms of the actual draw. But the draw host couldn't resist pulling Trump up on his use of the term soccer.
