SLOAN, Iowa (KTIV) - Friday is day one of the 6th annual Rural Route Ramble, a two-day shopping event in rural Iowa with nearly 100 vendors on the route. There is sure to be something for everyone.

It’s like a pick-your-own adventure. Grab a map, make your route, and you’re on your way to support small businesses.

You can tell which businesses are participating in the ramble by their marked banners in front of the businesses.

Vendors were ready with special discounts and all kinds of merchandise to help people shop small this weekend.

The goal is to get community members to new vendors and towns off the beaten path.

Over the last 6 years, the Rural Route Ramble has grown to have over 5,000 shoppers in these 14 small Iowa towns.
