BOSTON — As the 11th overall selection in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Victor Soderstrom certainly figured he’d have more than 53 NHL games on his resume five-and-a-half years later. Alas, that hasn’t been the case for the Swedish blueliner.
He had been putting up decent numbers with Providence in the American Hockey League this season when the call came from Boston early Thursday morning: he was headed up to join the big club. Michael Callahan was going on injured reserve and the Bruins needed a blueliner. The 24-year-old Soderstrom even led the team’s morning stretch at Warrior Arena.
