Section 9 boys basketball recently opened the 2025-26 season.

There are 43 teams competing in six divisions of the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association and four divisions in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League, all based on enrollment.

The defending sectional class champions are Newburgh Free Academy (Class AAA); Our Lady of Lourdes (AA), New Paltz (A), John S. Burke Catholic (B), Mount Academy (C ) and Eldred (D).
