A North Alabama teen faces attempted murder and conspiracy charges in connection with alleged threats he made to kill former classmates and faculty members.
Eighteen-year-old Athens High School student Carson Albert Butler was indicted by a Limestone County Grand Jury on Nov. 14. He is set to have a pretrial detention hearing on Dec 10.
Butler allegedly made online threats to intentionally cause the death of Athens High School students, faculty, as well as school resource officers, in the summer of 2025, according to the indictment. He was 17 years old when he made the threats.
