SHELBYVILLE — With more than 30 attendees in the courtroom, a circuit court judge heard arguments from three attorneys Dec. 5 over the defamation case filed by Collins High School boys basketball coach Chris Gaither , with all parties set to reconvene in three months.

At the hearing, Jude Melanie Brummer denied a motion by Gaither’s attorney to dismiss class action claims, as such a move would be premature before a discovery. The case will remain open in the meantime.
