Some Californians may be getting a piece of a $700 million settlement between Google and state attorneys general, including California.
The settlement resolves a consumer protection and antitrust lawsuit against Google, in which attorneys general alleged that people paid too much for apps and for purchases made in apps downloaded from the Google Play Store, according to the settlement's website . The attorneys general claimed Google’s actions reduced people’s choices in apps, and that Google made misrepresentations to the public about getting apps from sources other than the Google Play Store and its billing policies for apps.
Google has denied any wrongdoing as well as the allegations made.
