COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A judge in Franklin County this week extended a block on Gov. Mike DeWine’s ban on intoxicating hemp products, postponing an injunction hearing for a second time.
Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Carl Aveni issued a continuance order rescheduling the hearing to Jan. 29. The temporary restraining order blocking DeWine’s executive order will remain in effect until further notice.
The hearing had been scheduled for this week, but it was postponed due to inclement weather that shut down the Franklin County courthouse.
DeWine declared a public health emergency order in October, directing all retailers to remove intoxicating hemp products from their shelves and cease sales. Aveni blocked that order on Oct. 14 with a temporary restraining order, expressing concern
