IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Starbucks workers in Iowa City spent Friday morning on the picket line, joining a national strike aimed at pressuring the company to negotiate on wages, staffing, and benefits.

Strikers gathered outside the Clinton Street Starbucks as part of what organizers call the “Red Cup Rebellion,” a coordinated campaign by unionized workers across the country. Despite low temperatures, baristas and supporters said the weather was “the least of their concern” as they pushed for movement on key contract issues.

Abigail Scheppmann, a barista and striker, said workers have struggled to make progress on concerns raised inside the store.
