OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - For many seniors living in care facilities, holiday shopping is nearly impossible.
Sandie Yeaman is working to change that through her nonprofit organization, Gwen’s Gift .
“I’ll tell you this is the best feel good situation anybody could be in,” said Yeaman, founder of Gwen’s Gift.
The program brings free shopping events to memory care homes across the metro area, allowing residents to select gifts for family members, roommates, nurses and grandchildren.
The idea began a few years ago when Yeaman’s friend Gwen asked for help shopping for her family. Yeaman brought items from her own home to the facility.
“But then everyone else in the facility went, ‘I have a daughter, can I get that for my daughter?’” Yeaman said.
