SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Notre Dame will not play this weekend, instead waiting to see if other teams’ results will secure the Irish a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Multiple scenarios exist heading into this weekend’s conference championship games, with the Big 12 Championship Game between BYU and Texas Tech carrying the most significance for Notre Dame’s playoff hopes.

BYU sits just behind Notre Dame in the current rankings. If the Cougars upset Texas Tech, they could move ahead of the Irish in the standings. If BYU loses, Notre Dame is likely in, but the final decision could still come down to the selection committee.
