CANTON, Ohio — Glenville’s mission was simple: Stop Brayden DeVito.
The Shelby senior quarterback was a Mr. Football finalist and had led his team through a dominant run all season on the road to Canton.
That changed Friday morning against the Tarblooders, who shut him down and won their third OHSAA Division IV state championship in four years with a 45-7 rout of the Whippets at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
“We just knew that we had to stop him,” Glenville senior linebacker Cincere Johnson said. “He was their playmaker and that’s what we did.”
