TOLEDO, Ohio —
The city of Toledo is dismantling its department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
The change comes as DEI programs face increased scrutiny around the country. City officials said the decision to refigure the department was already happening before any federal mandates or orders.
Those in the department of DEI said the work they have been doing, like helping with workplace investigations and giving residents opportunities to be part of boards and commissions, will still be happening, but now with a different structure.
