Frank Gehry, whose innovative and revolutionary designs helped to redefine what architecture could be and inspired millions to travel to those iconic buildings to see for themselves, has died at 96.

Swooping and sculptural, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris are among the cultural monuments that he created. More than anything he set out to evoke emotion and did so with daring thinking. The Pritzker Prize-winner’s boldly dramatic creations morphed into many forms including aloft the High Line in Manhattan, the store windows of Louis Vuitton for Nicolas Ghesquière’s debut collection, the Dancing House in Prague and the “El Peix” fish sculpture in Barcelona.
