HAUBSTADT, Ind. — A southern Indiana sheriff's deputy responding to a 911 call helped a mother give birth early Thursday morning.
According to a release from the Gibson County Sheriff's Office , around 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 4, a 911 call was made regarding a woman in labor at the Flying J truck stop located at 844 E. 1250 South , near Haubstadt.
Deputy Levi Sims was near the intersection of U.S. 41 and East 1250 South when the call came out and went to find the family. Sims was then reportedly flagged down by the father.
Police say Sims arrived within a minute of fire and ambulance crews being dispatched and helped deliver the child. Sims reportedly placed the child in the arms of the mother after the delivery and tied the umbilical cord.
