CLEVELAND, Ohio — An Independence attorney whose law license was suspended after a drug conviction and allegations of sexual contact with a 15‑year‑old is seeking to practice law again.

Shawn Romer, 44, is set to have a hearing before a three-member panel of the Ohio Board of Professional Conduct on Dec. 19 involving his reinstatement.

Romer was sentenced in February 2022 to three years in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to corrupt another with drugs, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanor soliciting prostitution.

The plea deal with Cuyahoga County prosecutors did not include charges for sexual contact with the teen, though Romer did not dispute it . In exchange for his plea, he testified against Reuben Rankin , who was later convicted and sentenced to 40 years in feder
