Life in Concord is about to get sweeter. This Saturday, bakers with a background in Michelin Guide restaurants will open their new shop in Concord, The French Spot.

The bakery is having its grand opening from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 6 at 785 Oak Grove Road (in the Oak Grove Plaza). The first hundred customers will receive a free pastry, and there will be daylong discounts and “mystery boxes” of assorted desserts, some of which conceal $30 gift cards.
The French Spot is an offshoot of a popular bakery of the same name in the Lower Nob Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. It is owned by Vincent Attali and Maria Zapata, who “come with impressive credentials,” according to Diablo Magazine, which covered the bakery’s announcement way back in spring.
