A Live Stop spiraled into chaos when a woman struck a Philadelphia police officer with her car and fled the scene, authorities announced on Friday, Dec. 5.
The 20-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a red 2007 Chrysler Sebring when officers conducted the stop around 2:10 p.m., according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
The woman reversed and clipped a patrol vehicle before suddenly shifting into drive and hitting an officer on the driver’s side, police said. No injuries were reported.
She sped north on 6th Street, resulting in a search that led officers to the 2800 block of North 8th Street, where the same Sebring was found crashed in an unrelated wreck, authorities said.
Witnesses told officers the woman ditched the vehicle and ran south on 8th Street before turning west onto Somerset Street, according to the police.
She was later found and taken into custody at Temple Women’s Hospital, police said.
She is being charged with assault on police and related offenses.
