MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Monroe City Council recently authorized a drone as a “first responder program” at the Monroe Police Department. Recently, the City Council and MPD agreed to enter a contract with Motorola Solutions for 2026 to launch the drone as a first responder program.

The drone will travel to incidents that officers can’t get to promptly. When the drone is at the scene, the officers will be able to pick up details and footage of the event. Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan says this will help increase the community’s safety, as the drone has a variety of abilities.
