If we’re taking Leon Rose at his press-release words — which represent his only form of public communication these days — then the Knicks absolutely have to blitz for Giannis Antetokounmpo .

Remember when Rose and James Dolan fired Tom Thibodeau in June , when the team president explained the shocking decision with these words at the very top — “Our organization is singularly focused on winning a championship …”

It was, in my opinion, the most meaningful nine words from the front office since it took over. They weren’t exactly true or all-encompassing (there were other reasons Thibs was fired). But it’s important to be consistent.

So if you’re claiming you fired a successful coach because you want to win a champion
