SEATTLE — A federal vaccine advisory committee voted on Friday to end its recommendation that all newborn babies receive hepatitis B shots – a move one doctor says erodes trust in any public health guidance from the Trump administration.
NBC medical analyst Dr. Vin Gupta, a public health physician and pulmonologist, spoke with KING 5’s Joyce Taylor on Friday.
“It's going to sow continued confusion, continued doubt, continued skepticism on the safety of not hepatitis B vaccine, but all vaccines,” he said. “Hepatitis B vaccine is safe. There's no new information here.”
All of the committee’s members are appointed by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a leading anti-vaccine activist before becoming the nations top health official.
