SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Mike Hastings continues to prove himself as the right man to lead the No. 2-ranked Badgers. He picked up his 50th win as Wisconsin head coach on Friday, less than three full seasons into his tenure.
His skaters didn't make things easy for him. The Badgers were down 2-0 after the first period but came back in a big way to beat Notre Dame, 7-4.
That comeback was fueled by four second-period goals, including two from Joe Palodichuk. The junior defenseman scored in the final seconds of the second period to give the Badgers their first lead of the game.
Notre Dame's Evan Werner scored early in the third period to tie things at 4-4, but Ryan Botterill scored a minute later to retake the lead for Wisconsin with an assist from Palodichuk.
