UPDATE: Soddy Daisy Commissioner Steve Everett says that Jamie Thomas of the longtime Thomas Brothers Construction Company has withdrawn his application to build an asphalt plant on Dayton Pike.

The proposal sparked strong pushback from residents concerned about potential pollution. Thomas had previously sought approval for the plant in August.

Officials have not said why the application was withdrawn.
