Ankle issues continue to pester LaMelo Ball.
The Charlotte Hornets guard exited Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors with ankle soreness and will be unable to return, the team announced.
The severity of the injury is unclear, but Ball appeared to twist his ankle while getting back on defence and slipped early in the third quarter. He exited the game soon after and the team ruled him out near the end of the frame.
He had played only 11 minutes in the game up to that point but had 11 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Injuries have been a point of concern for Ball this season and throughout his six-year career. In only 15 games this season, the 24-year-old is averaging 19.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists. His point average is his lowest since his rookie season.
