The holiday season officially began in Albuquerque on Friday as families packed into the Old Town plaza for the annual Holiday Shop and Stroll and the big Christmas tree lighting.
The holiday spirit was alive and bright in Albuquerque's Old Town, with free admission at the Explora Science Center and Children's Museum, bustling streets, and plenty of holiday cheer.
A folklorico dancer shared her excitement about performing with Baila Baila Dance Academy, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
For many families, the event was about making memories, including for 10-year-old Arlo and 8-year-old Nora, who said, "I think it's just fun just to hang out and meet new people here," and "I think it's fun to be on TV right now."
