Terence “Terry” Pokela, age 86, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, surrounded by loving family. Terry was born June 24, 1939, in Virginia, Minnesota, the son of John and Pearl (Takala) Pokela.

Terry spent many years of his childhood in Rock until seventh grade, when the family moved to Chassell. Terry graduated from Chassell High School in 1957, then attended the University of Michigan, where he played baseball and earned his degree in biology, a certificate in education, and a master’s degree in education administration.

Terry married Sheryl “Sherrie” Peffers on Jan. 31, 1970, in Chelsea, Michigan. Throughout their almost 56 years of marriage, Terry and Sherrie enjoyed playing cards with friends, visiting family in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Wisconsin
