But things took a particularly dramatic turn last month when BBC Director-General Tim Davie and News CEO Deborah Turness were forced to resign over accusations of bias in its coverage. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to justify charging the public a compulsory fee when it feels like scandal after scandal dominates the headlines.
